history of the rsl club

remembering those who served

The RSL, through the Maroochy RSL Sub Branch, provides vital advocacy services for the ex-service members in our community and our current serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The Returned Services League of Australia is a totally independent, apolitical organisation run by its members, for its members.

The wider community can join the RSL in commemorating all who have served, suffered, and died in war.

ANZAC Day (25 April) is the most important national day of commemoration for Australians.

Remembrance Day (11 November) marks the anniversary of the armistice which ended the First World War in 1918. It is the second of the two major national days of commemoration in Australia.

history of the maroochy rsl club

What is now known at the Maroochy RSL was originally called Maroochydore and District Ex-Servicemen’s Memorial Club.

Wishing to have a social club of their own, the Maroochydore RSL Sub Branch established an original Sub Committee in 1969 and then, through commitment, dedication and hard work, a new committee in 1970.
