community support

Maroochy RSL

community sponsorship

Maroochy RSL is passionate and committed to giving back to the Community. The club donates approx $200,000 a year through sponsorship of and donations to local organisations and events. Local schools, charities and sporting groups are just a few of the many who have benefited. Members of the club can feel proud to be a part of this achievement.

The facilities that the club has developed offer our community the opportunity to enjoy a range of recreational activities in a friendly, inviting and safe environment. As well as being able to donate money to worthy causes, the club is able to make use of our high community profile and facilities to make possible fund raising efforts for not for profit groups.

responsible gaming

For some people gambling can change from entertainment and pleasure and become an issue. When that happens, gambling can play too big a role in a person's life and hurt them, their family, friends and the people who care for them.

If your gambling is causing issues in your life, you can take steps to change this. Talking about gambling with somebody you trust can reduce the stress that can cause you to continue to gamble. If you have an issue with gambling there is free, confidential professional help and support available.

The following organisations offer confidential, free counselling services:

Gambling Help Sunshine Coast
(07) 5492 7423

Gamblers Anonymous

Lifeline (24 hours)

Are you at risk of gambling excessively? Below are some key indicators:

  • Gamble to avoid dealing with problems or disappointments
  • Skip work or study to gamble
  • Spend more time gambling than with family and friends
  • Think about gambling every day
  • Gamble to win money, not just for fun
  • Gamble to win back money lost by gambling
  • Feel depressed because of gambling
  • Lie or keep secrets about gambling
  • Borrow money to gamble
  • Argue with family and friends about gambling
  • Gamble for longer periods of time than originally planned
  • Gamble until every dollar is gone
  • Lose sleep due to thinking about gambling
  • Don't pay bills and use the money for gambling instead
  • Try to stop gambling, but can't.
  • Become moody when trying to stop or cut down on gambling
  • Try to increase the excitement of gambling by placing bigger bets
  • Break the law to get money to gamble

Any one of these things might be a sign that you have an issue with gambling. Even if you're just a bit worried about your gambling or someone else's, it's a good idea to get help sooner rather than later.
