April 08 - Maroochy RSL Club receives a
Special Achievement award for Responsible Gambling

After wining the Best Club on the Sunshine Coast and Best Gaming Venue Award in 2007, the Maroochy RSL Club’s achievements were topped off by the Special Achievement Award for Responsible Gambling this year. The special award is a proof for the Maroochy RSL Club’s proactive approach to the promotion of best practice in the provision of responsible gambling and the commitment to ensure gambling is a safer activity.
As a part of the responsible gambling initiative, the Maroochy RSL Club works directly with Gambling Help Agencies, such as Lifeline and Relationships Australia. Soleil Poynton, Gambling Help Service Counsellor/Educator at Relationship Australia: “Congratulations on Maroochydore RSL winning the Clubs QLD award for Reponsible Service of Gaming. At Relationships Australia, we support any effort that may reduce the incidence of problem gambling within the community.”
Tom Casilieris and his team at Maroochy RSL Club would firstly like to thank their staff and patrons who truly make the club such a wonderful place, but would also like to take the opportunity to thank the various community organisations and the media with whom they have worked so closely with over the last twelve months. We are proud to be able to share this fantastic award with you all.
April 08 - Maroochy RSL Club Congratulates Shirley Smith
Shirley Smith, Maroochy RSL Snooker & Billiard Club Member again won the Queensland Residents Snooker title on Saturday 19th April at Sherwood. This was Shirleys third win.
She now goes on to play in the Oceania (Australia New Zealand and Papua New Genui) Event at the end of the month at Banora Point. Shirley has been playing for over 10 years, and is proud to say that her snooker started at Maroochy RSL. Other achievements include
* 2007 made the Semi finals in the Oceania Tournament, and was beaten by the eventual winner.
* Made it to the semi finals of the Australian open and the Australian Nationals.
Shirley will also be playing in the Australian Nationals (Adelaide) and Australian Open (Sydney) this year. We wish Shirley all the best for her future events
Feb 08 - Staff Spruce up at Maroochy RSL Club!

Here at Maroochy RSL Club, we have unveiled a new look for our staff. Employing approximately 150 staff across the main club on Memorial Avenue and sister bowls club, The Swan, we have invested in a brand new uniform for staff.
Trading since 1972, Maroochy RSL Club has seen many trends and fashions come and go and this week sees the next step into 2008. The uniforms, made from light and durable materials, are in a range of modern colours including chocolate, silt, black and shades of blue, with each uniform customised for different teams within the club.
Carlee Driscoll, Marketing Manager says “it is very important for all our patrons and visitors to keep our look fresh and invest to ensure our staff are comfortable in their working environment. We only launched the uniforms this week and feedback from patrons has been very positive”.
Nov 07 - Maroochy RSL Club donates $22,000 to the
Sunshine Coast Children’s Therapy Centre
 Early in November, Frank Martin, Director of the Sunshine Coast Children’s Therapy Centre acknowledged the donation of $22,000 from Maroochy RSL Club. Tom Casilieris, General Manager of Maroochydore RSL club presented the annual donation to the Director and staff of the Therapy Centre.
Mr Casilieris said “here at Maroochy RSL Club we have a very strong focus on the community. We have been supporting the Centre for many years and it is a privilege to be able to help such a worthy local organisation. We thank our patrons who contribute to such fund raising, particularly to our bingo players.”
“The Maroochydore RSL have been tremendous supporters of the Therapy Centre for many years and this donation is greatly appreciated”, Mr Martin said, “As a Community based, not-for–profit organisation, $22,000 is huge amount of money and it will ensure that the provision of high quality therapy services to children with special needs on the Sunshine Coast will continue.”.
