History
Originally called Maroochydore and District Ex-Servicemen’s Memorial Club, we opened our doors as a licensed Club on 8th September 1972. Wishing to have a Social Club of their own the Maroochydore
RSL Sub Branch established an original Sub Committee in 1969 and then a new committee in 1970 that through commitment, dedication and hard work made it a reality.
The Maroochy RSL Club has gone through many changes since that day
1972: 18th of November Club officially opened by the former Premier of QLD, Sir Francis
Nicklin
1986: Renovations completed and on the 23rd of August 1986 officially opened by
Sir Albert Abbot CBE, State President of the RSL of Australia
1990: Club has 11 employees, increased more than tenfold today
1992: Club boasts 2550 members, increased more than tenfold today
1995: Major renovations completed include RSL House & the first two levels
Multi Storey Carpark
1997: Club launches Music Fest Schools Competition, still running today
2000: Maroochy RSL Club opens purpose built Memorial Park Kindergarten
2003: Club begins 4 year scheme with Maroochy State High School to purchase
$5000 of Computers.
2006: Maroochy RSL Club first venue on Sunshine Coast to offer Designated Driver
Scheme
2007: Club wins Best Club on the Sunshine Coast and celebrates its 35th birthday
